A Day to Remember Return to their hometown of Ocala and recieve a key to the city

A very special day for Ocala born and bread rockers, A Day to Remember was presented with the keys to the city by Mayor Kent Guinn last Saturday just before performing a full set in front of a well represented local crowd.

Mayor Guinn came equipped with the puns boasting, “It’s a real honor, I’m so proud of these young men and they’ve made Ocala proud. I’m proud to have them here tonight. Tonight is truly a day to remember in Ocala.”

Lead vocalist Jeremy McKinnon couldn’t be more thankful of Ocala for shaping him and the band into what they are [More]

New Gorillaz Album Could Be 26 Songs Deep

gorillaz register 26 new songs for upcoming album

Thanks to AltPress, we know that Gorillaz have registered 26 songs for their long anticipated fifth studio album, which could be released sooner rather than later. The songs were registered with Phonographic Performance Ltd, a British based licensing company. Included in one of those songs is the newcomer and current 97X favorite, Rag N Bone Man. Gorillaz is supposedly rehearsing for a tour that hasn’t yet been announced, although we do of a couple festival appearances for the band. One of those festivals is their very own Demon Dayz Festival taking place in June. If I had to guess more dates will be added later in the summer, including [More]

A New Paramore Album Appears to Be On the Way

  • 2:06 pm Friday, March 17th, 2017 by Kyle T- Street Team

A fan page dedicated to Paramore released a list of 12 songs that were registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, a professional organization that databases musical works from songwriters, composers, and publishers.

As you can see, Hayley Williams, Taylor York, and Zac Farro are listed in some combination on all of the songs. Farro left the band in 2010 and had most recently been rumored to be working his previous band. However, last summer, he confirmed that he had rejoined Paramore to drum for their fifth studio album, and we appear to have evidence of that work. As [More]

GMF 2017: Locality Rules, Cage the Elephant Torches the Stage, and Ryan Adams Teaches Photographer a Lesson

Gasparilla Music Festival 2017 Review

In what has become Tampa’s most buzzworthy and locally centric festival, Gasparilla Music Festival continued to build on the foundation they built 7 years ago, while also spreading its wings to national attention. Some of the best local bands shared the stage with some of the biggest names in rock, in the form of Cage the Elephant and Ryan Adams. Artists like Chronixx and Ghostface Killah, who would be a rare sight in Tampa otherwise, made highly anticipated appearance. Local food and beverage vendors stole the show for some fans. Cigar City Brewing served as the title beer sponsor and even brewed up [More]

Going to Gasparilla Music Festival? Don’t Miss These Acts!

Cage the Elephant and Ryan Adams headline Gasparilla Music Festival

Cage the Elephant- They haven’t played many, if any, live shows since their massive Grammy win for Best Rock Album, so expect some of that jubilation to trickle into their already electric live performances. No stranger to 97X, the Kentucky native rockers are always known to put on a great show. Most fans haven’t had a chance to see them live since their latest Grammy winning album, Tell Me I’m Pretty, was released, so now is the time.

Ryan Adams- 16 albums and a heartbreaking divorce later, Ryan Adams may have just released his best album yet. He’s had a dedicated [More]

Throwback Thursday: Musicians Take Sick Days Too

  • 11:20 am Thursday, March 9th, 2017 by Kyle T- Street Team

Our friends at Alt Press brought back some nostalgia yesterday when they posted this article titled “11 times a musician needed a sick day and the fill in was awesome“. While they didn’t overtly mention 97X, it is very obvious that the show in which Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance was replaced by Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday, was indeed Next Big Thing 4 at Coachmen Park. That’s pretty cool. Surely that wasn’t planned, but this wouldn’t be relevant over a decade later if something remarkable didn’t happen. Way lost his voice, which isn’t unusual for [More]

Okeechobee Day 3 -The Lumineers, Kings of Leon, Bleachers, and more!

  • 6:20 pm Monday, March 6th, 2017 by Evander - Marketing & Promotions Manager

Bleachers never disappoints. If you ever get a chance to check them out- DO IT! They have amazing energy on stage and btw- they have a sax player… You want to see them now don’t you? We lucked out at Okeechobee because Jack Antonoff, the lead singer, said that was the last show where they’re playing a set list off their album Strange Desire before they release their new album!! When he said that you can imagine how much I embarrassed myself from my jumping around and screaming

In between sets we chatted with some listeners and found some awesome artists in action! To be honest, the people [More]

Okeechobee Day 2- Chobeewobee Village and Aquachobee!

  • 11:36 am Sunday, March 5th, 2017 by Evander - Marketing & Promotions Manager

Day 2 of Okeechobee Fest was all about exploring! When we first entered the portal, we went straight to the stages to check out the bands in The Grove. This time, we decided to walk past that and we discovered a portal into two whole new worlds.

Okeechobee Day 1 – Young The Giant, Lewis Del Mar, and more!

  • 11:54 am Saturday, March 4th, 2017 by Evander - Marketing & Promotions Manager

So ya girl (Nicole from the street team) has never camped before so you can imagine how much we looked like noobs while we were setting up our tent when we got to Okee… BUT  we got the tent up and grabbed our fanny packs (of course) and set off into the portal!

We were greeted with palm trees and large geometric shapes, because I mean why not? Some of the signs that people hold up are hilarious:

The first band we checked out was NBT 16′ artist, Lewis Del Mar! First of all we need to touch on the fact that they [More]

Lorde Drops New Song, Music Video For “Green Light”- Watch it Here

  • 2:15 pm Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 by Kyle T- Street Team

Lorde announced on Twitter yesterday that she would be dropping her new single, “Green Light, today (Thursday at 2pm EST). And, it’s here! Enjoy.

Lorde had previously been relatively mum regarding new music. She teased her fans late last year. Then, thanks to a leaked image, we figured something would be released in early March. Well, it’s early March and this week has been an avalanche compared to the past 3 years for Lorde. She launched a website on Monday teasing the new video, and has been blowing up Twitter since then. She announced via Twitter that the video and song [More]
