This morning on Good Morning America Toni Cornell, the 12-year-old daughter of Chris Cornell, sang a heartwrenching version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” with the help of OneRepublic. The performance was done in dedication to her father, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave, and his close friend Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Cornell died in May at age 52. Bennington in July at age 41, on Chris’s birthday.
“Numb”, arguably the band’s biggest hit to date off of 2003’s album Meteora, will for sure be a timeless classic representing that era of alternative music. Listen to his isolated vocals from a recorded version of “Numb” and watch the goosebumps populate down your arm.
We are devastated to learn of the passing of Chester Bennington today. Music has suffered so many tragic losses lately and it just doesn’t seem to stop. TMZ reported today that he was found this morning around 9am at his home in California. Bennington passed away as result of suicide, hanging himself. He was 41 and survived by his wife and 6 children. We wanted to take a moment and remember a few of Linkin Park’s many stops in Tampa Bay throughout their music career. Machine Gun Kelly has been opening most of the dates. He just struck a deal with the rock outfit during a video for Genius, in which Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington crash an interview and whisk him off on the road.

Linkin Park recently confirmed the release of their new single, “Heavy”, was on its way, and we will give you the first listen Thursday, Feburary 16th at 10:15am. If that isn’t good enough we will be playing the song every hour on the hour for the rest of the day!
