Amazon is stepping up the food delivery game with Five Guys and Chipotle

There really isn’t much that you can’t find on Amazon these days. In fact while I’m writing this, I have my Amazon account pulled up and am doing a little shopping myself. There is really no need to leave the house to shop anymore.
Amazon is really stepping up their presence in the food division with the purchase of Whole Foods and introducing Amazon Fresh, a drive thru grocery pick up earlier this year. They even have their hands in the food delivery with Amazon Restaurant Delivery but haven’t had much luck with that, until now.
They recently teamed up with Olo, a digital platform which allows you to order, pay for, and have your takeout delivered to you, all online! They mainly focus on larger restaurant chains, with over 200 restaurants totaling around 40.000 locations all over the US. Their clients include Cold Stone Creamery, Jamba Juice, Five Guys, and Chipotle. The added value for Amazon is this partnership will grant them access to the multiple different chain restaurants in Olo’s client database!
With this agreement, Olo will continue to handle the menu and ordering side of the relationship, while Amazon Restaurants will handle the delivery, much like Uber eats and McDonald’s relationship.
What this all boils down to is, can I order a personal trainer from Amazon to come and just move my legs and arms around for me, because I don’t see myself leaving my house ever again. Except for, you know, work.
