For the first time since 2013 we got new music from Thirty Seconds To Mars. ‘Walk On Water’ dropped today and in true Thirty Seconds To Mars fashion, is big, bold, and powerful. Back in July Jared Leto and the crew had asked fans all over the country to film themselves on the 4th of July. They were compiling footage for a documentary entitled ‘A Day in the Life of America’ which would be a snap shot of what the holiday looks like in all corners of the country. In addition to what their own crews filmed, thousands of people submitted footage which is showing itself for the first time in the lyric video for the song. Guessing we’ll see more once the official video is released?
I spoke with Jared Leto this week about the song and he explains the message behind it is clear as we are “in a time of great uncertainty and conflict,” he says “I think ultimately the song is about hope, about unity and a reflection of the times we’re living in.” He also said it would be a “hell of a song to play on stage every night” which of course led me to beg the question DOES THAT MEAN A HEADLINING TOUR IS COMING?! Which he confirmed would be announced after they release a few more songs! YES.

Leto also confirmed that this will be the first single of their forthcoming fifth album. No release date has been confirmed.

We also talked VMA’s!! Thirty Seconds to Mars will be performing on Sunday and a larger than life performance can be expected. He explained that they will be using new technology and techniques they’ve never used before so it could either be “a giant disaster or really fun to watch, we’ll see.”
