Bruce Springsteen an sell out just about any venue he wants to these days. Last year he sold out Metlife Stadium three times (with a capacity of 50,000), just across the New Jersey border from where he’ll be playing at the Walter Kerr theatre. He hopes the broadway setting, with a total capacity under 1,000 will be as personal and intimate as possible. The show, titled “Springsteen on Broadway” will run for 8 weeks starting on October 12th.
He told the New York Times, “I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theater is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years.”
Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, in an attempt to prevent scalpers from destroying fans’ experiences. Bruce Springsteen has been a vocal opponent to ticket scalpers throughout the years.
You can register for the opportunity to purchase a ticket next Wednesday HERE. Tickets start at $75 and go up to $850.
If this doesn’t warrant a trip to the big apple, then I don’t know what does. It may not be Brendon Urie in Kinky Boots, but I’m sure plenty of music fans will appreciate an intimate Springsteen show far more.
