Today is one of the biggest Friday’s of the year in terms of new music releases.
Perhaps the most anticipated new album of the year, Arcade Fire’s Everything Now, is finally here. It’s released via Columbia Records, their first album to be released via a major label. As you should know by now, they will be swinging through Tampa for the first time ever (that’s not a fact, but I don’t think they’ve ever played here as far as I can go back).
CAGE THE ELEPHANT
Not to be overlooked on this big day is Cage the Elephant’s follow up to their Grammy winning album, Tell Me I’m Pretty. It’s not a completely ‘new’ album in that Unpeeled features live cuts of numerous songs from Tell Me I’m Pretty, but with a 21 song track list, there are plenty of new songs to enjoy.
The Rochester, NY rockers are back with new music as well. They picked a bad release day, in that they have to compete with the likes of Arcade Fire, Cage the Elephant, and Manchester Orchestra for press, but that doesn’t mean that their third studio album Content can’t of competing with them. In fact it’s quite excellent. Give it a listen here.
Last but not least, and perhaps what I’ve been most looking forward to out of the group, is Manchester Orchestra’s A Black Mile to the Surface. Based on the first listen through, their fifth studio album has the potential to be one of their best albums yet. Luckily for us, they will be here in no time, playing The Ritz in Ybor on September 6th!
