HBO is set to air two new comedy specials this Fall, featuring the former Daily Show host Jon Stewart. It will be the first time since 1996 that his stand up comedy has been televised and over two years since his last day hosting the Daily Show. Trevor Noah has grown into the role nicely, but there is nobody quite like Stewart. I guarantee you that I will be anxiously awaiting this HBO special because a lot of news has happened in Stewart’s two year absence from the camera, and we have only received limited to no public reaction from him. I expect these to be jam packed with current material.
This announcement comes on the heels of HBO’s decision to axe the much anticipated animated “Onion like” mini series. They planned to have that project in full swing before the presidential elections, but production and distribution issues proved to be too difficult. Both parties told the Hollywood Reporterthat the project wouldn’t be the end of their relationship with Stewart, and today’s news just proved that.
While he may never take back the healm of The Daily Show after a 16 year reign, we will always have YouTube videos of his best moments.
