Last month we received ‘The Man’, the first new single from The Killers in five years. Following it’s release came the announcement that we will finally get our hands on their fifth album Wonderful, Wonderful, this September. Brandon Flowers called into 97x today to tell us more about ‘The Man’ and what to expect from the new album. Speaking to the single he explained that ‘The Man’ is “my last hurrah with my 22-year-old self” he explains that it is a representation of the visions and ideas of masculinity he had at that time in his life. He feels this new record captures where he is now, 5 years later, and ‘The Man’ was his way of looking back and acknowledging who he was and the band was then.
Hear more about Wonderful Wonderful in the full interview here! (Brandon also says that North American tour dates should happen by the end of 2018- yes!!)
When The Killers came on the scene in the early 2000’s it was rapid fire. Their debut album Hot Fuss sold three million copies and gave us five smash singles including, “Somebody Told Me,” “Mr. Brightside,” “All These Things I’ve Done” and “Smile Like You Mean It.” From then they went on to release Sam’s Town which got to #2 in 2006 and yielded hits such as ‘When We Were Young’ and ‘Bones’. Looking forward to finally getting more new music this year!
