I’m sure all of you already know this because clearly you follow the Kardashians, but if for some weird reason you haven’t heard the news, here ya go. Kendell and Kylie Jenner just dropped a new collection of clothing
called Rock vs. Rap tees as part of their Kendall + Kylie clothing line. The tees resemble that of something you might find in a thrift store, with featured bands including Black Sabbath, Tupac, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Pink Floyd among others, except they are priced at $125 and up. I repeat. $125. For an old school band t shirt with the KK logo stamped on it.
If that doesn’t make you, or the bands featured on these shirts, feel like a sack of potatoes then I don’t know what to tell you. If Tupac magically came out of the grave to perform a final show, I don’t even think he could get away with charging $125 for a tee at the merch table.
Update: The products have since been removed after multiple cease and assist letters and outrage from the featured artists. Apparently the Jenners thought too highly of themselves to seek permission to copyright these legendary musician’s artwork. Jeff Jampol, manager of The Doors told Rolling Stone this… “This is a case of people who fashion themselves as celebrities who are famous for being well-known but don’t actually do anything trying to utilize and steal and capitalize on the legacies of those who actually did do something and created amazing art and messages. It’s ironic, at least, and criminal, at worst, both morally, ethically and artistically.”
Sharon Osbourne tweeted this out. “Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know … lip gloss.”
Notorious B.I.G’s mom also ripped the girls to shreds over their use of her son’s image. Watch more here.
