It’s not too often that you see headlining quality acts make surprise appearances on one of the smallest stages at a festival… or rather ever. Well, The Killers did just that. The Las Vegas based band made the short trip across the pond to surprise attendees at England’s Glastonbury Festival, because obviously that was the closest festival to Vegas, duh. Regardless of why they were there, it was still awesome nonetheless. I’m not sure how this was kept a secret for so long, because accommodations must have been made well in advance.
The Killers announced that their newest album, Wonderful Wonderful, is due out in September, and damn, September can’t come soon enough. They’ve released the funky tongue in cheek single “The Man”, which took some getting used to, but I like it. Brandon Flowers has said that this new album is the closest thing to Sam’s Town since that they’ve made in the 11 years since that album was released.
Check out this clip of “Mr. Brightside” from the surprise set. If you don’t get goosebumps watching this sing along then you must not be human.
Here’s the full setlist:
When You Were Young
Somebody Told Me
Smile Like You Mean It
Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll
Read My Mind
All These Things That I’ve Done
All we can hope for is a Florida show when they inevitably announce a full tour in support of the new album. Is that asking too much?
