Korn’s everyday bassists, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, won’t be joining the band on their run of South American dates with Stone Sour for unforeseen circumstances, so in the most logical sense, the band decided to bring a 7th grader along in his place. Sure, it’s probably safe to assume that being the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo means the 12 year old Tye is beyond his age in bass playing years, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that he’s 12. Tye is also a member of the Northern California metal band The Helmets, also comprised of other 12 year olds. The move is certainly interesting, cool, and perplexing at the same time. I mean, what is going to be on the band’s rider? Whiskey, cigarettes, and Fruit Loops?
In all seriousness, this is a serious decision, and signals that Tye Trujillo has a bright future ahead of him.
