The 2017 Brit Awards featured a teary eyed tribute to George Michael, with heartfelt speeches from his former Wham! bandmates and a moving performance by Coldplay’s Chris Martin of Michael’s 1986 song “A Different Corner”. The most powerful moment of the song took place when Martin began to duet with a archival video footage of Michael displayed on the big screens in the 02 Arena.
It was just after the footage depicted Michael saying, “I never really wanted to be anyone else” that Martin jumped back into a verse with Michael, and the two sang the rest of the song together. The makeshift duet couldn’t [More]

In case you missed it, the 2017 Brit Awards took place last night, in what is essentially the British equivalent to the Grammys. Due to the globalization of music nowadays, we see plenty of crossover musicians find success at awards ceremonies worldwide. This year was no different. Tributes to the late great David Bowie and George Michael were the centerpiece of the night. Last year’s Next Big Thing headliner, The 1975, took home an award, something they failed to do at the Grammys as well as newcomer, Rag N Bone Man.
The 1975 won the British Group award, beating out Radiohead [More]

The 1975 released a new track, a delicate cover of Sade’s “By Your Side”, benefiting the British charity organization, War Child. War Child is an organization that offers aid and protection to children affected by war. They premiered the song on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 show. The slow tempo, R&B undertones, warped auto tune over Healey’s vocals, and silky synthesizers make it sound more like a Bon Iver track, further showcasing the British alt band’s ranging talent. Front man Matty Healey explains the decision to cover the track as such:
“When I was listening to it, I was listening [More]

Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain took his life in 1994 at the age of 27. The grunge rock icon is largely responsible for the rise of alternative rock and Nirvana’s Nivermind is considered to be one of the most influential and best rock albums to date. The combination of Cobain’s mystifying death and Nirvana’s far too short career, make it impossible to forget his contribution to the world. Today would have been his 50th birthday, sparking even more talk on his remembrance. 50 being a landmark birthday and given the success of a genre that Kurt Cobain basically created, it’s perplexing to think [More]

According to this, we will have new music from Lorde on March 7th. Whether it’s a full album or just a single, the image doesn’t make it clear enough to discern. Either way it looks quite promising. Could this image be fake? Of course. Is it? Probably not. Here’s why:

Incubus will be hitting the road this summer in celebration of their debut album’s 20th anniversary. Well, it is the 20th anniversary of their debut album on a major record label, which is extremely impressive because that insinuates that they’ve been at it for well over two decades. The Calabasas, California band was one of the most popular alt metal band of the early 2000’s drawing inspiration and similarities to the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, and Korn. In addition to their 20th anniversary, there appears to be added inspiration for a 2017 tour in a new album. Incubus [More]

Other highlights of the lineup include, Moon Taxi, Ghostface Killah, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Twin Peaks, [More]
