I don’t know about you, but there’s something about cover songs that get me excited. I especially like to hear covers performed live, because it offers a unique and humanistic touch, to what is often a copy and pasted performance from night to night while a band is on tour. Sometimes the only songs that change on a band’s setlist are, in fact, the covers. There’s no doubt that every band and musician is unique, but covers offer those differences to become tangible. Hey 97x and music fans alike! You are in for a treat this December! I have seen The 1975 twice now, and they put on one of the most captivating live shows I have ever seen. I didn’t know much about them or their music going in to either show, but left wanting more. After researching them and learning more of their music, I am ever so stoked to see them at the 97x Next Big Thing December 3rd, and you should be too!

Now I’m not going to lie…The Head and the Heart was one of those bands that I had heard of and had been meaning to listen to, but never gotten around to. However, I’ve changed my ways because they just took the cake by reaching their first no.1 on the Top Rock/Alternative Album charts with ‘Signs of Light’! Clearly I’ve been sleeping on them. Have no fear, I am now woke and realize my mistakes. The band and Warner Bros. Records took their folk-y vibe and smushed it in all of our faces and i’m definitely not complaining.
